Snow and avalanches

We are leading players in avalanche protection in Italy, with decades of experience in managing avalanche issues first-hand and in developing innovative solutions.

At first glance snow looks like a uniform blanket but, seen up close, it turns out to be an extremely complex material that is constantly changing: an essential resource for winter tourism and, in many mountain areas, the main water reserve for electricity and drinking water.

With less snow below 1,500 metres, climate change is pushing economic and tourist interests higher up and bringing people into areas that were rarely frequented until now. Together with the poor upkeep of forests and slopes caused by depopulation, this makes avalanche risk an increasingly pressing issue in mountain land-use planning. The growing demand for safety calls for sophisticated analysis tools, a multidisciplinary approach and risk management models that balance the use of resources with the protection of the land, and that can adapt when conditions change.

Areaquattro is one of the leading players in this field in Italy, thanks to the decades of experience of its team. In-depth knowledge of the mountain environment, hands-on management of avalanche problems, constant contact with Italian and international clients and professional training delivered with AINEVA have given us a unique wealth of experience. For us, supporting a client means looking for the best solution together, with respect for priorities, budget, safety and the environment.
